Super Eagles Hopeful Blessing Eleke Awarded Goal Of The Month In Switzerland
Published: September 24, 2018Nigerian striker Blessing Eleke has won the Goal of the Month award for August 2018 in the Raiffeisen Super League.
The 22-year-old's brilliant solo goal in FC Luzern's 4-2 win over FC Lugano on August 4 was picked as the most eye-catching goal in the Swiss topflight last month.
Remarkably, Eleke netted his maiden Super League goal for FC Luzern few days after he became eligible to play for the club after completing a move from FC Ashdod in Israel.
He saw off competition from FC Sion's Switzerland international midfielder Pajtim Kasami and ex- FC St. Gallen star Stjepan Kukuruzović, who is now on the books of Lausanne-Sport, to win the accolade.
Having made an impressive start to his career with FC Luzern, Eleke was among the four players placed on standby for Nigeria's 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier vs Seychelles earlier this month.
A product of Flying Sports Academy, the same academy that produced John Ogu, Eleke has scored 6 goals in nine appearances in all competitions for FC Luzern so far this season.
