Super Eagle Iwobi, Ex-Nigeria U23 Invitee Odubajo Rated Highly In Arsenal Win Vs Brentford
Published: September 27, 2018Super Eagles winger Alex Iwobi was in action Wednesday evening as Arsenal zoomed to Round Four of the Carabao Cup with a 3-1 win while right back Moses Odubajo played excellently for the visitors.
On the opposing side Super Eagles prospect Moses Odubajo played for Brentford and was equally impressive on the night at the Emirates.
Danny Welbeck (brace) and Alexandre Lacazette were on target for the Gunners who are billed to take on Watford in the Premier League on Saturday.
This is how the media rated the Nigerians:
The Express wrote of Iwobi's contributions playing from the left side of the Gunners' attack:
"Alex Iwobi - Very lively performance from the Nigerian, who looks a new player under Emery. A constant threat when running at defenders. And covered Nacho Monreal well in defence - 7."
ESPN.co.uk also gave Iwobi a pass mark in their assessment.
"MF Alex Iwobi, 6 -- Was unlucky not to win a penalty on 20 minutes when a messy challenge put him off balance. One of his quieter nights, even if he was denied number four when the offside flag was raised."
The Guardian in their rating of Nigeria born Moses Odubajo who just returned from injury stated:
"Moses Odubajo - 6 - Aside from once where he was caught flat-footed he looked comfortable in defence. Bright second half before coming off for Dalsgaard."
Iwobi is set to be invited for the upcoming 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Libya; Odubajo was on the radar of the Nigeria Football Federation prior to his spell on the sidelines.
