Liverpool Loanee Awoniyi Bags Brace; Osimhen Begins To Live Up To Wonderkid Billing
Published: September 27, 2018Two former Golden Eaglets strikers, Taiwo Awoniyi and Victor Osimhen, found the net for their respective sides in the sixth round of the Beker van Belgie on Wednesday, September 26.
At the Stade Yvan Georges (Virton), KAA Gent returned to winning ways following their 4-2 victory over Excelsior Virton, with Awoniyi netting a pair of goals for the visitors.
The Liverpool loanee gave Gent the lead with a bullet header after a brilliant cross from summer signing Philip Azango, before making it 3-1 with a minute remaining.
Awoniyi would be delighted he ended a seven-game goal drought, he last scored against Jagiellonia Bialystok in the Europa League qualifying rounds on August 16.
Still in the Belgian Cup, Wolfsburg loanee Victor Osimhen is enjoying a new lease of life with Sporting Charleroi after coming off the bench to give the Zebras the lead in their 2-0 win at Eendracht Aalst.
Osimhen, who netted his first senior goal last weekend, scored in the first minute of stoppage time.
