Middlesbrough In Talks With Chelsea Legend Obi Mikel
Published: January 22, 2019EFL Championship outfit Middlesbrough have opened talks with Nigeria captain John Obi Mikel over a deal.
Teesside Live is reporting that Middlesbrough remain interested in Mikel this month, with the midfielder returning to the North East for further discussions on Monday.
The Chelsea legend held initial talks with Boro last week but those negotiations were not fruitful.
Mikel wants to return to England after mutually terminating his contract with Tianjin Teda earlier this month and Crystal Palace have also been credited with an interest in the Nigeria number ten.
The 31-year-old won two Premier League titles, three FA Cups, one League Cup, one Europa League Cup and one Champions League during the ten years he spent at Chelsea.
Chelsea chose not to renew Mikel's contract at the end of the 2016-2017 season and he was allowed to join Tianjin Teda on a free transfer in January 2017 after 372 appearances for the Blues.
