Why Leicester's Nigerian players Should Be Confident Ahead Of Rodgers Reign
Leicester City, on Tuesday appointed former Liverpool gaffer, Brendan Rodgers as their new manager for an initial three-and-a-half year deal, and it could prove a good one for the Nigerians at the club.

Rodgers had a stint with Chelsea as a youth team manager from 2004, overseeing the developmental curve of Nigeria midfielder, Tom Taiwo before departing for Watford in 2008 while he had also invited one-time NFF target, defender Moses Odubajo for training sessions during his time with Celtic in June 2018.

The Northern Irish manager would then sanction a season-long loan deal from Chelsea for 2013 AFCON winning Nigerian, Victor Moses who went on to play 22 games for The Reds in the 2013-2014 season.

Another Nations Cup winner, Efe Ambrose who currently plies his trade with Derby County has also benefited from the tutelage of Rodgers having represented his erstwhile club Celtic for five years, winning four Scottish topflight titles.

Current Nigerian national teamers, Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho who play for the Foxes first team are enjoying different fortunes this term: while Ndidi is regarded as one of the team's linchpins, his compatriot has been on the fringes of the starting XI, making just nine league starts so far.

Other Nigeria-eligible talents on the books of the King Power stadium outfit, the likes of Calvin Ughelumba, Layton Ndukwu and Edward Elewa-Ikpakwu would thus, aim to benefit and earn further progression with the 46-year-old at the helm of affairs.
