Ex-Bayern Munich Star Rohr Reacts To Capture Of Hernandez By German Champions
Published: March 28, 2019French World Cup winner Lucas Hernandez is set to be the most expensive left-back in history when his five-year deal with Bayern Munich is activated on July 1, 2019.
La Liga side Atletico Madrid will pocket 80 million euros (around £68 million) from the deal taking Hernandez to Bayern Munich.
Former Bayern Munich defender Gernot Rohr was delighted that his former club agreed terms with Hernandez, and believes they are sending a message to their Bundesliga rivals with the defender's acquisition.
''It is very good news for for Bayern and Lucas Hernandez,'' said Rohr, who previously coached Bordeaux and OGC Nice, to French radio station Europe 1.
''Bayern is not used to spending so much, everything is still under control. Bayern needed a strong signal to send to the competition.''
Super Eagles coach Rohr was on the books of Bayern Munich from 1972-1974.
