Nmecha On Target To Help Man City Into FA Youth Cup Final
Published: April 02, 2019
Nigeria-eligible midfielder, Felix Nmecha helped Manchester City U18s into the final of the FA Youth Cup after beating West Brom 4-2 at the Manchester City Academy Stadium on Monday night.
Nmecha who has enjoyed a break out season for the Citizens, having earned his professional debut for the senior team was tasked with helping his mates into the final of the tournament where Liverpool lie in wait, and he did not disappoint.
After seeing a powerful effort cannon off the woodwork in the 61st minute, the 18-year-old was on hand to beat West Brom goalkeeper, Josh Griffiths with a beauty three minutes from time, rounding off the scoring in style.
It could have been more for the dazzling youngster had Griffiths not superbly got a strong hand to his long range drive earlier in the first period.
While the Baggies' Tomiwa Solanke looked threatening for the visitors, City's firepower eventually proved too much for West Brom who were reaching the semi-finals of English football's most prestigious youth competition for the first time in over 40 years.
