A Tough Decision Awaits Manchester City's Adarabioyo Over His International Future
Published: May 17, 2019
Manchester City youngster Tosin Adarabioyo is in the early stages of his career, and things seem to be going on well with him at the club level.
Though he wasn't given any chance to feature at the Etihad Stadium by Guardiola, the former England youth international has a very great outing with Championship side West Brom, who narrowly missed out on a return to the Premier League next season.
Unfortunately, the same can't be said about his international career as he is yet to make a very important decision as regards to his future.
The centre-back turns 22 come September, hence; he is ripe enough for a senior international debut. However, the question is which country will Adarabioyo choose between England or Nigeria?
It was reported in 2016 that the defender rejected Nigeria's approach as he's focused on playing for the Three Lions of England in the future.
Unfortunately, England's invitation hasn't arrived yet, and he isn't getting any younger. He must make his final decision sooner rather than later.
Does Nigeria Have A Chance?
Super Eagles centre-back Leon Balogun is edging closer to the end of his international career, hence, the country could be forced into finding a replacement soon.
The Nigeria Football Federation could use this as a point to convince the Manchester City academy product to dump England.
With Balogun's retirement, Adarabioyo will get more game-time with the Eagles as he will partner either Chelsea loanee Kenneth Omeruo or Udinese star Williams Ekong at the heart of defence.
In all truth, the Super Eagles have a slim chance with the defender, who feels more English than Nigerian.
Nonetheless, Adarabioyo may be forced to pledge allegiance to Nigeria, should he fail to receive a long-awaited invitation from Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate.
