Manchester United On Brink Of Deal For Ajax Nigerian Wonderkid
Published: May 23, 2019Manchester United are reportedly close to signing Ajax Amsterdam wonderkid of Nigerian descent, Dillon Hoogewerf.
Voetbal International says Hoogewerf has opted to move abroad and Manchester United are heavy favorites for his signature.
The 16-year-old has rejected a professional contract offer from the Dutch Eredivisie champions.
Regarded as one of the most promising talents at Ajax Academy, Hoogewerf was the youngest player of Nigerian descent to feature in the UEFA Youth League when he made his debut against AEK Athens on November 27, 2018, aged 15 years and 9 months until the record was broken by Manchester United's Shola Shoretire the following month.
Speaking to Ajax TV, Head of Youth Education, Said Ouaali stated : ''Dillon has indicated last week that he will leave the club.
''He is leaving for a foreign club. We wish him a lot of success and know that we have done everything to keep him.
''He may ultimately make the choice and choose a foreign adventure.''
