Three Nigeria-Eligible Players Named In England Squad For U21 EURO; No Place For Lookman
Published: May 27, 2019England U21 manager, Aidy Boothroyd on Monday revealed his squad for this summer's European U21 Championship finals, naming three players of Nigerian descent on his roster.
Chelsea duo Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori who both enjoyed glittering campaigns with Aston Villa and Derby County respectively as well as Bournemouth's Dominic Solanke all made the cut for one of the most prestigious youth competitions at international level.
Everton winger Ademola Lookman has been snubbed in one of the conspicuous omissions, as also Tottenham and Liverpool products Josh Onomah and Sheyi Ojo.
The invited players are expected to regroup at St. George's Park for tune-up sessions next two weeks ahead of the tournament which begins on June 16 in Italy.
England will tackle France, Romania and Croatia in their group games during the finals.
