Super Eagles Handed Boost As Troost-Ekong Returns To Full Training Ahead Of Guinea Clash
Published: June 25, 2019Udinese star William Troost-Ekong returned to full training ahead of the Super Eagles Africa Cup of Nations match against Guinea on Wednesday, June 26, allnigeriasoccer.com understands.
Manager Gernot Rohr had been sweating on the fitness of the central defender after he suffered a knock in the 1-0 win against Burundi on Saturday but the good news is that he trained normally with the group in their last workout before tomorrow's match.
It means there is a possibility that the former Netherlands youth international is on course to feature against the Syli Stars, having come through today's workout unscathed.
For the fifteen minutes that Tuesday evening's training session was open to observers, fullbacks Abdullahi Shehu and Jamilu Collins were the only players that did not train with the squad.
The Super Eagles' workout started about one hour late because they had embarked on a strike action over a pay dispute with the Nigeria Football Federation.
Assistant captain Ahmed Musa did not attend the mandatory pre-match press conference on Tuesday morning as the players were holding an in-house meeting at the same time.
