'It Is A Great Achievement' - Iwobi Delighted To Win Bronze With Super Eagles
Published: July 18, 2019Alex Iwobi was delighted to win a bronze medal at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations following the Super Eagles 1-0 victory against Tunisia in the third place playoff on Wednesday evening.
With his appearance against the Carthage Eagles, the Arsenal star featured in all the matches contested by the Super Eagles in Egypt, seven in total.
''It is a great achievement considering the quality of the 24 teams, especially as our team is very young. I am sure we are happy with this medal, hopefully we can do better in the next Africa Cup of Nations,'' Iwobi said in the mixed zone after the game.
On his message to Nigeria fans, Iwobi said : ''Thank you for their support, we always want to do them proud, may they continue to always support us because we feel the love they show us, we always do our best for them.''
Iwobi feels that Algeria are the toughest opponents the Super Eagles faced at the Africa Cup of Nations.
He added : ''For me it is a hard one to say considering the quality even in the group stage against Guinea, Burundi and Madagascar, but the toughest one is the team that knocked us out, Algeria. Maybe it was against them because we were not able to win''.
Nigeria have finished third eight times at the Africa Cup of Nations and have won the title on three occasions.
