Published: July 18, 2019New Manchester United signing Dillon Hoogewerf says one of his dreams is to help improve Nigeria but has stressed that it is a non-football-related aspiration.
Hoogewerf's father is Dutch and he has a Nigerian mother which makes him eligible to play for the Nigerian national teams but the Royal Dutch Football Association are leading the race for his services having played for the country's U15 and U16 teams.
''My dreams? Winning the World Cup, playing in the UEFA Champions League and a big non-football -related dream of mine is to help Nigeria improve the country,'' Hoogewerf said to the organizers of the Marveld Tournament.
''If you work hard for your dream and show the best of yourself, you can reach the top fast.''
According to the former Ajax Amsterdam teenage sensation, Naci ünüvar is the best player he has played with in his career.
''The best players I have played with? I think of a few straight away. I think of Naci ünüvar first, but Xavi Simons [Barça] Solomon Bonnah [now RB Leipzig] and Jurriën Timber are great players as well. And Sontje Hansen. Sontje is a fantastic player!''
It is believed that Manchester United are awaiting international clearance for Hoogewerf before confirming the signing of the highly-rated attacker.
