SV Eintracht Trier Wonderkid Snubs Germany For Nigeria Ahead Of U17 World Cup
Published: July 26, 2019SV Eintracht Trier 05 wonderkid Armin Olayo has snubbed the opportunity to represent Germany and wants to pursue an international career with Nigeria, allnigeriasoccer.com has been informed.
Olayo was included in the Germany U16 squad for a winter training camp in Spain in February and was named on the standby list for a DFB screening tournament in Duisburg in May 2019.
The Nigeria Football Federation did not have to coerce him before he opted to play for Nigeria's youth teams and he already has a Nigerian passport ahead of a possible trip to Nigeria to join the Golden Eaglets.
The goalkeeper is on the radar of the Nigeria U17 coaches who are searching for players to beef up the squad before the resumption of camping for the U17 World Cup.
Olayo is a star in the making; he has the ability to read games, has good passing skills and positional awareness, and excellent reflexes.
In recent times, Nigeria youth teams have embraced dual-eligible players, with Adrian Akande and Joseph Oluwabusola making the roster for the U17 AFCON, while Tom Dele-Bashiru and Nnamdi Ofoborh played for the Flying Eagles at the 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup.
