Everton Submit Nigerian Record Bid For Arsenal Winger
Published: August 07, 2019
As the countdown to the transfer window deadline heats up, Alex Iwobi has emerged as a target for Everton ahead of Thursday's cut off mark.
According to several reports in the English press monitored on Wednesday, Iwobi is considered by the Toffees as an option in place of Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha who incidentally was also sought by Arsenal before the Gunners settled for Lille's Nicolas Pepe.
Iwobi played 51 times for Arsenal last season in all competitions totaling 2,839 minutes, scoring six goals and setting up nine others.
He was given an extended break by the Gunners hierarchy because of international commitments with the Super Eagles at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Everton are said to have submitted a £30m bid for the Hale End Academy graduate and he would become the most expensive Nigerian player in history if the deal materializes.
Kelechi Iheanacho is currently the costliest Nigerian player, having joined Leicester City from Manchester City for a fee of £25m.
