Nigeria U17 Invitee Named In Chelsea's Matchday Squad Vs Tottenham Hotspur U18 PL
Published: November 09, 2019Nigeria U17 invitee Prince Adegoke is close to being promoted to Chelsea U18 team, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
According to Chelsea Youth on Twitter, the promising goalkeeper has been included in Chelsea's matchday squad for the ongoing game against Tottenham Hotspur in the U18 Premier League but is acting as cover for Jake Askew.
Being selected ahead of England U16 goalkeeper Kelechi Chibueze shows the progress he has made over the last few months.
Three weeks ago, Adegoke was Chelsea's preferred goalkeeper for the final of the Premier League U16 International Tournament.
He first made Chelsea's matchday squad for an U18 Premier League game against Arsenal during the 2017-2018 season.
Adegoke celebrated his sixteenth birthday on November 3 and is now eligible to sign scholarship forms with The Blues ahead of the start of the 2020-2021 season.
The Nigeria Football Federation invited Adegoke to a Golden Eaglets training camp before they traveled to Brazil for the U17 World Cup but club and education commitments prevented him from joining the squad.
