Samuel Kalu Reveals His Two Best Positions; Partnership With Bordeaux Pal Josh Maja
Published: November 15, 2019Samuel Kalu has revealed that his two best playing positions are the support striker and winger roles.
Predominantly a right winger, he has been deployed as a left winger by manager Gernot Rohr in his last two matches for the national team, with Villarreal's Samuel Chukwueze playing as an inverted winger.
Kalu showed his versatility by playing as a right wing-back in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa held in Johannesburg last year.
Speaking to our colleagues Naija Footballers via YouTube, Kalu said :''I can play both sides of the flank, I also play as a supporting striker.''
The Bordeaux number 10 went on to reveal that he has a great relationship with Super Eagles teammate Josh Maja on the pitch.
''It's all good, sometimes if we play together, we work together, he always tells me to give him the crosses.
''Anytime both of us are playing, he will know that he will have a lot of crosses, he has to put himself in a good position.''
Kalu netted the game-winning goal for the Super Eagles as they came from a goal down to beat Benin 2-1 in a 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match on Wednesday.
