'The Pressure Is High Because Pepe Scored A Lot Of Goals' - Osimhen On Comparisons With Ex-Lille Star
Published: November 15, 2019Expectations peaked following Victor Osimhen's move to Lille with fans expecting the Super Eagles rising star to fill in the boots of Nicolas Pépé, who joined Arsenal for a club record fee in the summer transfer window.
The Nigeria international has been off to a pretty good start at Lille, scoring 9 goals in 17 appearances from all competitions before reporting for international duty.
Osimhen has handled the pressure to deliver the goals amidst hefty comparisons with Pepe.
''For me, I think the pressure is high because Pepe scored a lot of goals for them and of course everyone wants me to replace him,'' Osimhen told
''He is a great player, to be compared with him is something spectacular and exceptional so I came there to write my history and to help the club and get the goals of course.
''To get to the objective in which the club has set for itself, I am really good to go and I think I can do even more better.''
