Lille's Osimhen Fails To Increase His Goal Tally With Manchester United Scout In Attendance
Published: January 22, 2020Victor Osimhen was on the losing side as Lille were beaten 4-3 on penalties by Olympique Lyonnais in the semifinal of the Coupe de la Ligue on Tuesday night.
The two Ligue 1 clubs headed straight to a penalty shootout after a dramatic injury time equaliser from Loic Remy, and the Nigeria international, who was Lille's fourth penalty taker, was successful from the spot.
According to Sky Sports, at least one Manchester United scout watched the game held at the Groupama Stadium (Décines-Charpieu) and it has been suggested that he came to monitor Lyon's Moussa Dembele and Lille's Boubakary Soumare.
The Red Devils are in the market for a striker and midfielder in the January transfer window but Osimhen has not been linked with the club in recent weeks.
Speaking post-match, the Super Eagles rising star was disappointed Lille missed out on a place in the League Cup final, saying : "We gave in a very good fight and I think penalty is a game of luck so we are eliminated but it is painful.
"The boys gave their all, we deserve to win and to go to the Stade de France but the dream has cut short.
"We have to continue to work hard and to improve".
