Brentford Make Attempt To Sign Arsenal's Nigerian Striker Who Scored 28 Goals Last Season
Published: January 23, 2020Arsenal have knocked back a £5m plus add-ons bid for scintillating teenage striker Folarin Balogun from Championship side, Brentford, latest reports from the English press has revealed.
The Daily Mail has reported that the Gunners have rejected the offer from the top flight hopefuls, as they seek to add more firepower upfront in their push to qualify for the Premier League next season, having earmarked the Nigerian as the perfect man to lead the charge.
The 18-year-old Balogun has seen his stock rise since his emergence through the ranks at Hale End, thanks to his prolificacy in the final third.
After scoring 28 goals in 28 games in the course of last season, he has continued to display his quality thus far this season and have already contributed to 11 goals (seven goals, four assists) in just 12 games at under-23 level.
Serie A giants AC Milan are also reportedly keeping tabs on the youngster who is on the verge of earning a breakthrough into Mikel Arteta's senior setup at the Emirates any time soon.
Arsenal will understandably not be intent on cashing in on the striker just yet, but a temporary move in search of more playing opportunities with a senior side could be in the offing.
