Danny Mills Picks Arsenal's Saka For His Euro 2021 Team Ahead Of Tottenham Loanee
Published: March 18, 2020
Former Manchester City and England defender Danny Mills believes Arsenal left winger cum left-back Bukayo Saka will get into the England squad for the 2021 European Championship ahead of Tottenham Hotspur loanee Danny Rose.
Mills on Wednesday was guest on Sky Sports News and was tasked with presenting a team for the tournament that was postponed to the summer of 2021 due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus.
"We don't know where Danny Rose will be playing his football next season. Nobody knows but Danny Rose has gone to Newcastle United on loan (from Tottenham Hotspur) to play regular football," Mills said.
"I just feel with Bukayo Saka coming through, Ben Chilwell will probably be the the first choice left back at that stage and the younger Bukayo Saka will get his chance as the back up.
"Things change in football. The cream always come to the top and players get injuries.
"If Rose is still playing exceptionally next season wherever that might be, he will still be in the (England) team but I just feel with the emergence of of Saka, who will play a lot next season, he will make the team possibly as the second choice," Mills concluded on his preferred left back players for the tournament.
The Anglo-Nigerian is approaching the final 15 months of his contract and is negotiating for a new deal with current club Arsenal.
Saka is arguably Arsenal's revelation of the season with some eye catching performances under sacked head coach Unai Emery, interim coach Freddie Ljungberg and now substantive coach Mikel Arteta.
