Flying Eagles hopeful Rio Adebisi is in the running for Crewe Alexandra's Breakthrough Player of the Season, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

The official website of the Railwaymen has announced the names of the players shortlisted for the club's End of Season Awards, with the versatile left-back nominated in two different categories.

Adebisi and four other youngsters, namely Will Jaaskelainen, Owen Dale, Luke Offord and Travis Johnson are battling for the Breakthrough Player Of The Season.

The Nigerian had his first-team breakthrough this term and was involved in five games across all competitions.

The 19-year-old and Norwegian-Nigerian striker Chuma Anene have been shortlisted for the club's Player of the Season award.

Anene is also a contender for another award - Goal of the Season - and faces competition from Tom Lowery, Daniel Powell, Ryan Wintle and Charlie Kirk.

Anene's powerful left-footed strike from outside the area against Carlisle United on January 1, 2020 was nominated.

Born to an English mother and Nigerian father, Adebisi has committed his international future to the three-time African champions.
