Osimhen Admits The Fans Played A Key Role In His Decision To Join Napoli
Published: October 27, 2020Victor Osimhen has admitted that the fans were a big part of why he decided to join Napoli over the other clubs vying for his signature.
The Nigeria international expressed fears about moving to the Italian Serie A but backtracked after holding talks with manager Gennaro Gattuso and president Aurelio De Laurentiis.
The Ultimate Strikers product ended his association with Lille in exchange for 70 million euros, making him the most expensive African-born player in history.
In an interview with TLN's Camila Gonzalez, Osimhen explained : "At first I was a bit skeptical about coming to Italy, not Napoli to be precise, but I saw that the interest they had in me was a genuine one and I spoke with the coach and president.
"And of course before coming here the fans have been wonderful and the love I've been getting from them before I signed has been really massive.
"When I came to Naples for the very first time I saw that everything they spoke about the city is amazing so I think it's just easier for me to sign for this club".
