Ghana 1 Nigeria 0: Flying Eagles' U20 AFCON Hopes Out Of Their Hands After Conceding Late Goal
Published: December 09, 2020Nigeria's Flying Eagles' chances of progressing to the 2021 Africa U20 Nations Cup took a big hit on Wednesday as they were defeated 1-0 by the Black Satellites of Ghana in the WAFU Zone B Championship in Porto Novo, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The only goal of the game came in the 83rd minute when Precious Boah stepped up to score a spectacular free-kick from 25 yards.
The Nigerian side saw two goals chalked off in the first half.
In the second half, the Nigeria missed some great chances to score and striker Wisdom Ubani came close to redeeming the situation ten minutes before the back breaking goal from their west African opponents.
The ball was cleared away from danger before the former Golden Eaglets star could unleash a shot from inside the penalty box.
The Flying Eagles' progression to the semifinals will now depend on a Ghana win over the Cote d' Ivoire side that held them to a 1-1 draw last weekend.
Ghana will have to score two clear goals over the Francophone team to do Nigeria a massive favour.
