Three Teenagers Of Nigerian Descent Nominated For Arsenal Goal Of The Month
Published: February 04, 2021Three teenagers of Nigerian descent namely Folarin Balogun, Miguel Azeez and Mazeed Ogungbo have been nominated for Arsenal's Goal of the Month for January, informs the Gunners on their official website.
Balogun, 19, has been shortlisted for one of his efforts against Brighton & Hove U23s on January 22 while 18-year-olds Ogungbo and Azeez have been included for their goals against Tottenham Hotspur U18s and Brighton U23s.
Balogun netted a hat-trick in a Premier League 2 clash against the Seagulls but his first strike in the tenth minute was the most eye-catching, dribbling through the Brighton defence before slotting into the bottom corner.
In that same game, central midfielder Azeez opened the scoring with a wonderful shot into the corner of the net, his first competitive goal for the U23s.
Ogungbo scored the pick of the goals in Arsenal's 4-1 rout of Tottenham Hostpur in the U18 Premier League on January 23, the defender drilled home a brilliant finish to wrap up the scoring in the 90th minute.
Completing the ten-goal shortlist are strikes from Kieran Tierney, Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe, Vivianne Miedema , Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang , Omari Hutchinson and Kido Taylor-Hart.
Saka's sensational strike against Chelsea was voted Arsenal's Goal of the Month for December 2020.
