Ex-Manchester United Star Ighalo Undecided Over Return To Super Eagles
Published: February 09, 2021Allnigeriasoccer.com has been told that former Manchester United Odion star Ighalo is undecided over his return to the Super Eagles ahead of the upcoming 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Benin and Lesotho.
Ighalo called time on his international career shortly after the 2019 AFCON, where he won the top scorer award with five goals.
As things stand, the new Al-Shabab signing 'does not think' he will return to the three-time African champions but will make a definite decision in the near future.
Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr and Nigerian Federation president Amaju Pinnick have been doing everything possible to convince Ighalo to rescind his decision to quit the national team, but have not been successful.
The German football tactician intends to keep tabs on the performance of his former number nine in Saudi Arabia with a view to a possible call-up to the Super Eagles in the event that the striker changes his mind.
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has not done badly since stepping into the shoes of Ighalo, scoring five goals in five matches while providing four assists, but hasn't played much in the last three months due to a shoulder injury he suffered on international duty and later contracted coronavirus.
