2021 AFCONQ: What Super Eagles stars are saying after victory against Republic of Benin
Published: March 28, 2021Five Super Eagles players who tasted action in Saturday's 1-0 win against the Republic of Benin have taken to social media to celebrate Nigeria's qualification to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
There was anxiety in the hours leading up to the game at the Stade Charles de Gaulle in Porto-Novo after Everton winger Alex Iwobi failed a coronavirus test but the Super Eagles put in a good performance to snatch victory right at the death.
The game appeared to be heading to a scoreless draw but Genk striker
Paul Onuachu towered above his marker to head home three minutes into stoppage time
after an initial shot from Victor Osimhen was blocked.
The win sees the three-time African champions guaranteed top spot in Group L of AFCON qualifying regardless of the outcome of their final match against Lesotho on Tuesday, March 30.
