APOEL Nicosia glovesman Francis Uzoho was delighted to return to action for the Super Eagles after seventeen months in the international wildness, as they registered a comprehensive 3-0 win over Lesotho in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Tuesday evening.

The 2013 U17 World Cup winner suffered a fracture of the meniscus and the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee during Nigeria's 1-1 draw with with Brazil in an international friendly held in Singapore on October 2019.

The injury kept Uzoho on the sidelines for the remainder of the 2019-2020 season but he returned to full fitness this season, playing eleven games in all competitions for his Cypriot team which earned him recall to the Nigeria squad for the AFCON qualifiers against Republic of Benin and Lesotho.

Writing on Twitter after the game against the Crocodiles, Uzoho said : "Happy to be back with the team after close to 2years out IN CHRIST ALONE".

The 22-year-old Uzoho has kept an impressive seven clean sheets in seventeen appearances for the Super Eagles.

The former Deportivo de La Coruña starlet is set to be involved in an interesting fight for the Super Eagles gloves with Sparta Rotterdam rookie goalkeeper Maduka Okoye ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
