Lorient striker Moffi reveals the number of hat-tricks he has scored in his career
Published: April 26, 2021Lorient striker Terem Moffi has revealed that his treble in yesterday's 4-1 rout of Bordeaux was not the first hat-trick of his professional career.
The Super Eagles hopeful was on target in the 20th, 43rd and 80th minutes, taking his season numbers to fourteen goals and three assists from 28 appearances in the French Ligue 1.
Moffi is now two goals away from equaling Victor Ikpeba's single-season scoring record by a Nigerian player set in the 1997-1998 season.
His first hat-trick in European football was against FK Palanga on September 25, 2019 while wearing the colours of FK Riteriai in Lithuania, and he got his second in a 5-1 home win vs Suduva two months later.
When asked if it was the first hat-trick of his career, Moffi told Ouest France (subscription required) : "No, this is not my first. In Lithuania, I had already registered two.
"But it is the first in France, and I'm delighted, for me and for the team.
"I thank Trevoh Chalobah, Yoane Wissa and Armand Lauriente for the assists. I was in the right place at the right time."

The 21-year-old Moffi netted braces in away matches against Monaco and Marseille before claiming his first match ball on Sunday.
