18 players participate in Super Eagles first training session; Musa, Onuachu's arrival date confirmed
Published: June 01, 2021Manager Gernot Rohr ran the rule over eighteen players during the Super Eagles first training session on Austrian soil on Tuesday, three days before they take to the pitch against five-time African champions Cameroon.
Nantes star Moses Simon ended speculation about his availability for the upcoming friendlies after reporting for international duty on Tuesday.
There was confusion over whether or not Simon would link up with the squad due to him being involved in the Ligue 1 relegation/promotion playoffs with Nantes at the weekend.
The two invitees still being expected are Kano Pillars winger Ahmed Musa and Racing Genk striker Paul Onuachu but the duo are expected to fly in tomorrow, the Nigeria Football Federation confirmed this evening.
Rohr will have at his disposal three goalkeepers, four defenders, five midfielders and eight players classed as strikers by Wednesday.
Though the Super Eagles are short on defenders, Leicester City ace Wilfred Ndidi could fill in as a center-back and Omonia Nicosa's Abdullahi Shehu at right full-back should the need arise.
