Cameroon suffer injury blow as Stoke City starlet and another GK ruled out of friendly vs Nigeria
Published: June 04, 2021Cameroon manager Antonio Conceiçao will not be able to count on two of his goalkeepers for this evening's friendly against Nigeria at the Weiner Neustadt Stadium in Vienna.
Stoke City goalkeeper Blondy Noukeu has been ruled out of the clash due to injury and joining him in the treatment room is Deportivo Alavès glovesman Fabrice Ondoa.
The injury to Ondoa is more worrisome as he was expected to be in between the pipes against the Super Eagles due to the absence of Ajax Amsterdam's Andre Onana.
Ondoa injured his finger during training on Tuesday morning and although the injury is not as bad as first feared, he will sit out today's game.
"The goalkeeper of Stoke City sent the doctor of the national team, Professor Ngatchou, a medical certificate declaring him unfit because of back pain ," Indomitable Lions press officer was quoted as saying by Camfoot.
Cameroon's press officer added that Ondoa could be available for the second friendly on June 8.
Omossola Simon (As Vita Club) and Devis Epassy (Pas Lamia, Greece) are the two goalkeepers available for selection against the Super Eagles.
