Breaking : Iwobi, Iheanacho, Ndidi, Okoye, Onuachu start against Cameroon (full starting lineup)
Published: June 04, 2021Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that manager Gernot Rohr announced his starting lineup for Friday night's international friendly against Cameroon during the Super Eagles final team meeting before heading to the Weiner Neustadt Stadium in Vienna.
Barring an injury in the pre-match warm-up, Rohr has decided on the eleven players that will start.
Sparta Rotterdam goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has returned to the starting lineup after missing the last Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Lesotho due to gastric problems, meaning goalkeepers Francis Uzoho and John Noble drop to the bench.
Rohr had a tricky decision to make regarding his back four, with defenders Kevin Akpoguma, Kenneth Omeruo, Leon Balogun, Tyronne Ebuehi, Semi Ajayi and Zaidu Sanusi all unavailable for selection due to injuries.
The German football tactician has gone with Chidozie Awaziem alongside William Troost-Ekong in central defence, with Abdullahi Shehu and Jamilu Collins occupying the fullback positions.
Wilfred Ndidi and Oghenekaro Etebo are the holding midfielders, while Alex Iwobi has been handed playmaking duties.
Completing the lineup are attack-minded trio Moses Simon, Kelechi Iheanacho and Paul Onuachu.
Nigeria Starting XI vs Cameroon : Okoye; Shehu, Troost-Ekong, Awaziem, Collins; Ndidi, Etebo, Iwobi; Simon, Iheanacho, Onuachu
