Official : Ex-Golden Eaglets GK joins Barnsley; Okotcha, Akinola depart West Ham
Published: June 04, 2021With a statement on their official website, Championship club Barnsley have announced the signing of former Nigeria U17 international Daniel Jinadu.
The former Chelsea schoolboy is joining the Reds following his release by West Ham and after a successful trial.
Jinadu, who kept clean sheets against Ipswich Town and Millwall while trailing with Barnsley U23s, has put pen to paper on a one-year deal with the Oakwell Stadium outfit.
Barnsley have underlined that the Nigerian-born goalkeeper will link up with their U23 team and will act as backup to the first team goalkeepers.
A former England U15 and U16 international, Jinadu started three of the four matches played by the Golden Eaglets at the 2019 U17 World Cup in Brazil.
Meanwhile, West Ham confirmed via their official website on Friday that Jinadu's former teammates at the Hammers U23 side in the shape of Joshua Okotcha and Olatunji Akinola will be departing the club upon the expiration of their contracts on June 30.
A central defender by trade, Okotcha made ten appearances for West Ham's youth teams in 2020-2021, and Akinola was loaned to Leyton Orient, for whom he made 34 appearances.
