Nigeria-eligible striker reacts after game-winning goal for Manchester United in UYL
Published: September 15, 2021England youth international of Nigerian descent Shola Shoretire was delighted to score the only goal which saw Manchester United win their opening Group F game of their 2021-2022 UEFA Youth League campaign.
In the warm-up to the Champions League match between Young Boys and Manchester United, Shoretire's first half strike at Sportplatz Wyler Hauptplatz (Bern) was enough to secure all the three points for the visitors.
At minute 14, the Anglo-Nigerian broke the deadlock when he found the net from close range, and he could not hide his happiness after scoring the winning goal.
Writing on Instagram, Shoretire said : "Good 1-0 win to kickstart the campaign! Also happy to get a goal".
Former Manchester United schoolboys of Nigerian descent Mipo Odubeko and Noah Ohio were among the players who messaged Shoretire for netting the match-winner versus Young Boys.
Shoretire has now scored in back-to-back matches for United's youth teams having opened his account for the season against Arsenal U23s in a Premier League 2 match on September 11.
He made his UEFA Youth League debut when coming off the bench against Valencia in December 2018 at the age of fourteen.
