Genk star Onuachu continues to generate transfer buzz with Atletico Madrid latest suitor
Published: October 13, 2021Paul Onuachu continues to generate transfer buzz despite recently extending his contract with 2021 Belgian Cup winners Racing Genk.
According to Spanish sports daily Marca, Atlético Madrid are the latest club linked with a possible move for the tall Nigeria international.
It is claimed that Atletico Madrid's sporting director Andrea Berta has made contact with Racing Genk over the signing of Onuachu as from the winter transfer market.
The Colchoneros are in the market for a center forward to provide competition for Luis Suárez and have Onuachu on their radar.
Atlético Madrid have reportedly scouted the Nigerian several times with a view to making a bid for his services.
If Onuachu is signed, he would not count as a non-European Union player because of the Cotonou Agreement.
The former Midtjylland man put himself in the shop window after mustering 35 goals in all competitions in 2020-2021 and has picked up where he left off last season by scoring 11 goals in 14 games this term.
Onuachu was offered to Premier League duo West Ham United and Brighton & Hove in the summer transfer window but nothing came out it.
