Another false alarm over fitness of Balogun as Super Eagle starts for Glasgow Rangers
Just as was the case when he was substituted in the second half of Nigeria's 2022 World Cup qualifier against Central African Republic in Douala due to a knock, Leon Balogun has once again defied the minor ailment to be available for selection.

The Nigeria international has been named in Glasgow Rangers' starting lineup for their Scottish Premiership meeting with St. Mirren on Sunday, lunchtime kickoff.

Against Brondby in Thursday night's Europa League action, Balogun left the Ibrox Stadium turf to be replaced by Calvin Bassey after suffering what appeared to be a hamstring-related injury.

The former Brighton & Hove center back had been rated as doubtful for the trip to St. Mirren and even the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Liberia and Cape Verde but there is nothing to worry about again as he has overcome the ailment.

Manager of the Light Blues, Steven Gerrard hinted an hour or so before kickoff that he wasn't going to be making many changes to the starting lineup and was fielding a strong team.

Indeed, the former Liverpool captain has picked the same outfielders that started against Brondby, including Balogun and Joe Aribo in the starting XI to face the Saints, leaving Calvin Bassey on the bench.
