'Of course' - Okoye agrees move to Watford will motivate him to give his best to Super Eagles
Maduka Okoye has acknowledged that his upcoming transfer to Watford will motivate him to give his best to the Super Eagles, starting with tomorrow evening's 2022 World Cup qualifying match against Liberia.

The 22-year-old has agreed a five-and-a-half-year contract at the Hornets with effect from January 1, 2022 and will spend the remainder of the season at Sparta Rotterdam before returning to his parent club next summer.

Okoye has made remarkable progress in his career over the last two years, from playing in the equivalent of the German fourth-tier to being Premier League bound.

When asked by the Super  Eagles Media Team if his move to Watford will motivate him to keep giving out his best when he comes to don the colours of the national team, Okoye replied : "Of course. Any time I wear this jersey I try to do my best for the country, for my family, for the whole land.

"It's a little boost of course but the focus is one hundred percent on these games and then the AFCON."

The  6ft 6in glovesman is putting the team first ahead of personal glory, emphasizing that he would prefer a win over a clean sheet.

"First of all three points and after a clean sheet," Okoye added.

He has been involved in four training sessions with the Super Eagles ahead of the matchday five showdown with Liberia in Tangier.

"It has been good, we are getting ready for the match on Saturday and it's a good vibe here. Everybody is fit, we have injured players back, I can't wait for Saturday.

"From the last matches we could learn that there is no easy opponent here in Africa so we have to very focused, we have be one hundred percent and I'm sure we get three points on Saturday, "Okoye concluded.

The German-born Okoye has earned thirteen caps for the Super Eagles making his international debut against Brazil in October 2019.
