Iwobi makes appearance off the bench as Everton fail test against champions Man City
Published: November 21, 2021Reigning champions Manchester City eased to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Everton in a Premier League clash at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Alex Iwobi started on the bench but was introduced seventeen minutes into the game as a replacement for Demarai Gray, who couldn't continue due to injury.
Manchester City piled on the pressure in the opening forty five minutes and it eventually paid off just before the break as Raheem Sterling applied a first-time finish after a pass from Cancelo with the outside of his right boot.
Pep Guardiola's side doubled the lead at minute 55 when Rodri found the top corner with a screamer from 25 yards.
Four minutes to the end of the game, Bernardo Silva slotted past Pickford from close range to extend Manchester City's lead.
The Toffees winless run stretches to six games while the Citizens with back-to-back wins are now second in the table, three points behind Chelsea.
Iwobi has managed just one goal in the top flight so far this season and his other strike was against Huddersfield Town in the second round of the Carabao Cup back in August.
