Ebuehi trains, Musa too, as Super Eagles take part in rondo session; outfielders divided into 4 groups
Published: January 08, 2022Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Benfica-owned fullback Tyronne Ebuehi took part in his first training session on Cameroonian soil on Saturday evening ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations after linking up with his international teammates.
The most cheering news has to be the presence of Ahmed Musa; the Fatih Karagümrük winger was substituted shortly after he found the net in a 2-0 win over Coton Sport in a friendly on Friday and it was being speculated that he suffered a knock.
After the jogging and stretching exercises., interim Nigeria boss Augustine Eguavoen divided the twenty-two outfield players into four groups for a rondo training session, while the goalkeepers were being put through their paces by the goalkeeper trainer.
A rondo is a football drill where one team tries to keep possession while the other team tries to take the ball away.
Speaking after yesterday's win against the 15-time Cameroonian champions, Eguavoen admitted that he was impressed with the team's ball possession and movements, and it seems he wants the players to take it up a notch with today's drills.
For the rondo session, the first team contained Ebuehi, Joe Aribo, Zaidu Sanusi, Musa, William Troost-Ekong and Taiwo Awoniyi, while Samuel Chukwueze Frank Onyeka, Kelechi Nwakali, Kenneth Omeruo, Chidera Ejuke and Olisa Ndah were grouped together.
The third group comprised Wilfred Ndidi, Chidozie Awaziem, Peter Olayinka, Kelechi Iheanacho and Semi Ajayi and the last group had Henry Onyekuru, Ola Aina, Alex Iwobi, Moses Simon and Sadiq Umar.
The training session took place at the VSTS-Annex of Roumde Adjio Stadium.
