Simon joins Arsenal's Ivory Coast star, 9 others in AFCON 2021 Best XI group stage
Football statistics website Whoscored.com has published the best eleven following the conclusion of the group stage of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, with one Nigeria player, Moses Simon making the cut.

Only nine nations have contributed players to the Best XI with Senegal and Ivory Coast leading the way with two each, while Sierra Leone, Sudan, Cameroon, Nigeria, Morocco, Cameroon and Tunisia have one player each.

In a 4-4-2 formation, Simon is deployed as an attacking midfielder with Ivory Coast's Nicolas Pepe (Arsenal), Morocco's Sofiane Boufal (SCO Angers) and Ivory Coast's Ibrahim Sangaré (PSV Eindhoven) completing the midfield four.

Kamara (Sierra Leone) starts in goal and the back four contains Bouna Sarr (Senegal), Pape Abou Cisse (Senegal), Mustafa Karshoum (Sudan) and Nouhou Tolo (Cameroon), and the attackers are Vincent Aboubakar (Cameroon) and Wahbi Khazri (Tunisia).

Simon is credited with one goal and one assist in three appearances at AFCON 2021, and the Nantes winger was involved in the build up to the goal scored by William Troost-Ekong vs Guinea-Bissau.

He was the top rated player against Sudan and Guinea-Bissau, has been successful in 79.6 percent of his passes, averaged 2.3 shots per game and five dribbles per game.
