'Aribo did a great job' - RB Leipzig boss does not expect Rangers to be weakened by absence of Morelos, Roofe
Published: April 27, 2022RB Leipzig manager Domenico Tedesco faced the media on Wednesday ahead of his side's Europa League semifinal clash against Glasgow Rangers and one of the topics he touched on was the unavailability of strikers Kemar Roofe and Alfredo Morelos.
Roofe is not at the disposal of Giovanni van Bronckhorst due to a knee injury suffered this month against Celtic and Colombian frontman Morelos has been ruled out for the season after undergoing surgery.
Though the loss of his two top strikers is giving Van Bronckhorst a headache, Tedesco does not expect the Light Blues to be greatly weakened in attack.
The German football tactician namechecked Joe Aribo as he spoke of Rangers' quality in attack.
Aribo is often deployed as a holding midfielder on international duty with the Super Eagles but has been used in offensive positions at club level.
In quoted relayed by the official website of RB Leipzig, Tedesco stated : "Rangers have a lot of quality in their ranks.
"Of course there are a few question marks over the way they’ll line up because both of their regular forwards are unavailable.
"But in the last game, Joe Aribo did a great job and showed that they can always be dangerous.
"They bring a lot of speed in their game and dominate the half spaces just like a real top team."
Left-back Calvin Bassey was in Rangers' traveling squad to German on Wednesday, while German-born center back Leon Balogun is the other Nigeria international in contention to feature apart from Aribo.
