'The player will leave Olympiakos' - Agent provides update on the future of Super Eagles winger
Published: June 19, 2022William D'Avila, the agent of Henry Onyekuru, has revealed that the Nigeria international is set to leave Olympiakos before the close of the summer transfer window.
The former Everton winger joined the Greek Super League champions last summer but both parties want to go their separate ways despite the player having three years to run on his contract.
Onyekuru did not live up to expectations after arriving from Monaco, scoring just one goal in 27 appearances across all competitions.
According to Gazzetta Greece, Olympiakos want to recoup the five million euros they spent to sign the Nigerian but it would be difficult to find a buyer for the winger at that fee, so a loan move is also on the cards.
"The player will leave Olympiakos and wants to return to Turkey," D'Avila told the Turkish press, adding that there are many Super Lig teams interested in his client.
Onyekuru has been linked with Galatasaray, Besiktas, Trabzonspor, Adanaspor, Fenerbahçe and Başakşehir.
The 25-year-old has had three different loan stints at Galatasaray, netting 22 goals in 71 matches.
