Transfer market guru Romano confirms Villarreal are still in talks over signing Super Eagles star
Published: August 17, 2022Italian transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Villarreal are still in talks over the signing of Nigeria national teamer Umar Sadiq in the summer transfer window.
Last week, Almeria CEO Mohamed El Assy revealed that Sadiq was on the brink of leaving the club as he explained why the striker was not involved in the pre-season friendly against Al-Hilal in England.
"The reason why Umar Sadiq did not come because he is close to being sold , we are afraid that he will suffer an injury that will make the process difficult," El Assy told reporters.
Villarreal are looking at selling the Super Eagles star for a little under thirty million euros (approximately N12.8 billion in Nigerian currency).
Done deal. Boulaye Dia leaves Villarreal and joins Italian side Salernitana on loan with buy option clause, not mandatory. €1m loan fee, €12m potential buy option. 🚨🟡🛩 #transfers

The Yellow Submarine are believed to be in the market for a centre-forward after rubber stamping Boulaye Dia's transfer to Italian side Salernitana, and have been linked with former Manchester United goal poacher Edinson Cavani as well as Sadiq, according to Romano.
Almeria lost 2-1 to the champions Real Madrid in their season opener on Sunday in what was Sadiq's first game in La Liga.
In 82 career appearances for Almeria, the Nigerian has registered 41 goals and 19 assists.
