Former Gunner Chuba Akpom named in Championship Team of Midweek
Published: November 03, 2022
Arsenal's Hale End Academy product Chuba Akpom has been named in the EFL Championship Team of Midweek based on Whoscored.com's ratings after his outstanding performance for Middlesbrough FC in their 3-1 win over Hull City at the MKM Stadium.
Akpom was instrumental in Manchester United legend Michael Carrick celebrating his first win as manager of Boro on Tuesday, November 1.
On the half hour mark, the 2017 Super Eagles invitee was in the right place to head home from close range after a delivery from Jones towards the back post, taking his tally for the season to six goals in eleven appearances in the Championship.
Akpom was involved in the build up to Boro's third goal in the 80th minute when he found Giles and the left-back drilled a low shot which was turned in by Cyrus Christie.
In a 4-3-3 formation, the Middlesbrough number 29 is partnered in attack by Reading's Andy Carroll and Burnley's Benson Manuel Hedilazio.
Akpom turned out for Hull City in the 2015-2016 season, on loan from Arsenal, scoring 7 goals in 41 matches.
The Championship Team of the Midweek is coached by Michael Carrick.
