'Similar to Drogba' - Pundit urges Manchester United to sign Super Eagles star
Published: November 07, 2022
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has continued his imperious form for Napoli in the Serie A and two football journalists have expressed delight on his performances.
Darren Lewis is the Assistant Editor at The Mirror (UK) and while speaking with Sky Sports News, believes that a club like Manchester United should make haste and snap up the Nigerian from Napoli.
"Manchester United need a striker in the mould of Victor Osimhen, the Napoli striker whose style of play is similar to Didier Drogba.
"He's physically strong, direct and scores goals. They need to finish off the chances that they create," Lewis stated.
On his part, French football journalist and broadcaster Julien Laurens on ESPN spoke about the impact that Osimhen had for his club in the 2-1 win over Ademola Lookman's Atalanta in Saturday.
"The response of Napoli was pretty incredible when they were a goal down from a penalty that Osimhen gave away (scored by Ademola Lookman) on a set piece.
"After that, his own reaction - because he (Osimhen) scored and assisted too.
"And to be fair, a bigger win would have been finer," Laurens who also talked about the directness of Olivier Giroud at AC Milan noted as he evaluated the performances of strikers in some of the leading leagues across Europe.
Osimhen became the top scoring Nigerian player in the history of the Italian Serie A with 32 goals following his strike against Atalanta.
