Confirmed Chelsea team news : Super Eagles-eligible player to miss trip to Newcastle
Published: November 11, 2022
Premier League giants Chelsea have not delivered a positive injury update on Super Eagles-eligible central midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka before their upcoming match against Newcastle United at St James' Park.
The Blues are seeking their first win in five matches after slipping five points outside the top four following draws against Brentford and Manchester United, before defeats to Brighton & Hove and Arsenal.
England U20 international Chukwuemeka will not be able to help Chelsea until after the 2022 World Cup, with the official website of the Londoners reporting that the talented teenager is among the players on the injury list.
"Wesley Fofana remains out with a knee problem, as do N'Golo Kante and Carney Chukwuemeka following hamstring injuries," Chelsea wrote.
Manager Graham Potter has not been able to call upon the summer arrival from Aston Villa for Chelsea's last four matches, against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League, Brighton & Hove and Arsenal in the Premier League, and Manchester City in the Carabao Cup.
Two months after Chukwemeka's arrival at Chelsea, he started seeing first team minutes, making his debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers before two further substitute appearances against Brentford and Manchester United.
Chelsea's first game after the World Cup is against Bournemouth on December 27, 2022.
