Official : African defender departs Chelsea after four years
Published: November 12, 2022With a statement on their official website, Chelsea have confirmed that Ivorian defender Alex Kpakpe has departed the club.
A left-back by trade who is also eligible to represent England at international level, Kpakpe is leaving Chelsea after four years.
He made nine appearances for the Blues in the U18 Premier League, scoring one goal against Southampton in September 2020.
Kpakpe was inspired to play football by his two older cousins - Ryan and Steven Sessegnon who are on the books of Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham respectively.
When he joined Chelsea at U14 level, he was a defensive midfielder before he was slowly moved to the left-back position.
The 18-year-old Kpakpe signed his first professional contract with Chelsea in February 2021.
