MLS SuperDraft 2023 : FC Cincinnati secure Aghedo, Minnesota United draft Iwe
Published: December 22, 2022FC Cincinnati have secured the right to American-born Nigerian defender London Aghedo following the conclusion of the MLS SuperDraft 2023.
With the 80th overall pick, FC Cincinnati selected Aghedo from Air Force Men's Soccer.
The Valencia, Santa Clarita native majored in Management with a minor in French and played football at the USAF Academy Prep School.
As a freshman, Aghedo appeared in eighteen matches for Air Force Men's Soccer and was on target against Houston Baptist in the WAC Tournament, logging 1,566 minutes.
Aghedo registered five assists in seventeen starts as a junior and clocked a team-high 1,452 minutes on the pitch .
With the 48th overall pick, Minnesota United chose midfielder Emmanuel Iwe, who was part of Minnesota United II during the 2022 season.
He could not be protected before the SuperDraft because he played for St. Cloud State University within the last 12 months.
Iwe, 22, played youth soccer for Joy Athletic club and played college soccer for SCSU, registering six goals and four assists in 1,300 minutes of action.
The Minnesota native made his 'first team debut' in a friendly against Premier League side Everton in July 2022.
