Fans knock Manchester United's Malacia for posting Iwobi's picture on Instagram
Published: January 07, 2023Tyrell Malacia has been berated by Everton fans for his decision to post the picture of his tackle on Nigeria international, Alex Iwobi, in the third round of the FA Cup meeting between Manchester United and Everton on Friday night.
The Red Devils won 3-1 at Old Trafford to book their place in the fourth round of the competition.
Four minutes into the second half, Iwobi was unable to continue and replaced by Abdoulaye Doucoure after he was accidentally caught on the ankle by Malacia as he broke forward.
The Super Eagles midfielder screamed in pain as he hit the deck and was attended to by Everton's medical team, while his concerned teammates gathered around him.
Malacia was not spared kind words by fans, who are ruing the games that Iwobi is expected to miss, after he posted the picture on his Instagram handle.
Below are some of the comments made by the respondents, noticeably from a disappointed Nigerian whose message was for United captain, Bruno Fernandes, whom he pleaded with to ensure that Malacia takes down the Instagram post.
hristian.petrov_9 : Bro destroyed his leg and posted it on insta.
jahpree.toxik's : Man sent iwobi to the hospital and showing proof great performance.
iamstzobo : You injured a player sending him on a long time out and you still post the picture of you doing the act and you can not wish the playee quick recovery. This is inhumane. @alexanderiwobi deserves better.
ziyad_mi : Bro posted the moment he broke iwobi's leg.
jeph_saviour23 : @brunofernandes8 I know you to be a good personality, cause your attitude in & off the pitch teaches the younger generation many good things. Please with all due respect captain, tell @tyrellmalacia to take down this post. He can’t injure one of our star players in Nigeria & still have the guts to make a post of the tackle. That’s not a good sportsmanship. I hope you see this @brunofernandes8 & talk to the young lad. Thanks ! United forever.
stylocomedian : So as u post Iwobi injury now how u take feel? So you think when you mess up this club go dey for you abi.... You can't even wish your fellow human being quick recovery...Your time dey come o we go remind you with spanner 6.
bigmetche.9 : Am a big fan but you shouldn't have posted the 2nd pic, there was no foul but show respect to a brother. His leg is hurt @tyrellmalacia.
thelondonevertonian : why you posting that, do you not feel bad for damaging someone’s ligaments.
kelvinekerete : Can't believe you posted a picture that sent another player to the hospital. That is very despicable. You'll surely get yours too and it'll be posted.
