Omonia Nicosia reveal the truth about reports linking Super Eagles GK with Ligue 1 team
Published: January 19, 2023Omonia Nicosia higher-ups have categorically dismissed reports in the local media claiming that Super Eagles goalkeeper Francis Uzoho received an offer from an unnamed team in the French Ligue 1.
Manager of The Queen, Yannick Ferrera and the club's press representative, Andreas Dimitriou have made it clear that there is no truth to the reports that Uzoho has received a proposal from a French club.
The report from Nigeria claimed that Omonia Nicosia had accepted a two million euros bid from an unnamed Ligue 1 team.
Uzoho is having an outstanding season at the Cypriot powerhouse, keeping eight clean sheets in fourteen league appearances, and supposedly put himself in the shop window after a remarkable display against Manchester United in a Europa League clash at Old Trafford back in October.
After the league game against AEL Limassol, the Omonia manager was asked to comment if what Uzoho's compatriots are saying is true.
Belgian football tactician Ferrera was quoted as saying by Sigma Live : "We don't have anything new about transfers. I haven't heard anything about Uzoho.
"Things are written that are not true. I have not been informed of anything."
Omonia Nicosia press chief Dimitriou added : "No proposal for Uzoho has reached the team's offices."
Uzoho will enter the final year of his contract with Omonia at the end of the season.
